Four ISIS supporters detained in Tajikistan for plotting terror attacks on 'Victory Day'

The law-enforcement bodies of Tajikistan have detained four supporters of the ISIS terrorist organization for preparing terror attacks in the Tajik capital on the eve of VE Day celebrations, the Interior Ministry said on Monday.

AhlulBayt News Agency - The law-enforcement bodies of Tajikistan have detained four supporters of the ISIS terrorist organization for preparing terror attacks in the Tajik capital on the eve of VE Day celebrations, the Interior Ministry said on Monday.

In their joint operation in Dushanbe on May 6, the Tajik police and security officers detained ISIS supporter Duston Menglikulov who had arrived from Moscow to organize terror attacks in the capital of Tajikistan, the Interior Ministry said.

During further operations in the Kabadiyenski district in south Tajikistan, his three accomplices were detained. The police seized audio and video equipment, extremist literature, two pistols with magazines and military uniforms from them, the ministry said.

"The terrorists were preparing on order of their chieftain based in Syria a series of terrorist acts codenamed 'Red Wedding' at the places of holding Victory Day events," the Tajik Interior Ministry said.

On May 2, Russian and Tajik law-enforcement agencies held a joint operation in Moscow, during which several members of the trans-national terrorist grouping, including a Tajik citizen, were arrested, the Interior Ministry of Tajikistan said.

They planned to commit terrorist acts on May 9 celebrated in Russia and former Soviet republics as Victory Day, the ministry said.

The Tajik Interior Ministry is currently holding an investigation together with the republic’s other law-enforcement and security agencies to neutralize other members of this radical organization, the ministry said.
