Imam Khamenei: CIIMP should contribute to establishment of Islamic society

Leader of the Islamic Revolution has received members of Supreme Council of Center for Islamic Iranian Model of Progress.

Leader of the Islamic Revolution has received members of Supreme Council of Center for Islamic Iranian Model of Progress.

Ayatollah Khamenei addressed the meeting on Monday morning where he highlighted objectives behind the establishment of the Center. He believed modern global development models had been undergirded by false foundations and had been inefficient; “thus, there is a need for a new model of progress which would hinge upon ‘Jihadi and Revolutionary commitment to action,’ ‘excellent use of wealth of Islamic sources and seminary schools,’ ‘scientific vigor,’ and ‘discourse-building’ as necessities of Islamic-Iranian Model of Progress," he said.

Leader of the Islamic Revolution drew a general outline of stages of realization of Islamic Revolutionary objectives and its relations with model of progress; “the first stage is formative years of the Revolution, which would be immediately followed by establishment of Islamic society and government, where Imam Khomeini (RA) succeeded in carrying out the feat,” he told the meeting. “The third stage where we are currently in, is state-building according to totally Islamic tenets; not until the Islamic government is established, would the Islamic society be possible, which effectively would relegate the Islamic lifestyle to merely theoretical status in the level of discourse,” he emphasized.

“Islamic-Iranian model of progress is a prerequisite to and forerunner of Islamic civilization; why well-tested models of other nations would not provide a desirable model for us,” Ayatollah Khamenei rhetorically asked; “these models hinge upon humanistic principles where man is the center of creation. All these models have failed to live to their promises in bringing the nations with justice and liberty,” he said.

Leader then pointed to pitfalls of the current models of progress which he believed assumed non-theocratic values as their guiding principles; “large deficits, debts, poverty, extreme social class gap, etc. prove that these models had been inefficient; their progress had been quite superficial, leaving deeper strata of their society almost intact and unaffected; furthermore, they had not lead these nations to peaks of justice, morality, security, and spirituality,” he told the meeting.

Ayatollah Khamenei highlighted the Iranian element in the model as important; “Iran is a ground where the model would flourish; if its culture, history, climate, rites and rituals, and human and natural resources are denied due attention, the model will remain as a mere draft which would not be advanced further,” he said.

Leader recommended the members of Supreme Council of Center for Islamic-Iranian Model of Progress to practice equanimity and patience in preparing relevant material, examination of the performance during 5 years of office, serious criticism of international current models of development, effective communications with governmental organization, and using capabilities of Revolutionary and young minds; “the Model should govern the hearts and minds of the future generation of country’s officials, that is, our current young generation,” he concluded.
