The facilities and capabilities of the two countries for developing and cementing ties are extensive and there are no obstacles in the way of developing Tehran-Skopje ties, said President Rouhani in a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Macedonia Nikola Poposki.
In this meeting which was held on Monday in Tehran, Dr Rouhani said: “The amount of business transactions between Iran and Macedonia illustrates that so far, the capacities and capabilities of the two countries have not been used properly and there is a need to tap the opportunities in the new era to make a move in the relations”.
Referring to Macedonian Foreign Minister’s remarks stating that Macedonia is going to open its embassy in Tehran, the President said: “Through introducing common capabilities and capacities to the private sectors of both countries, new conditions will be set for Tehran-Skopje relations”.
“Iranian companies are currently active in many countries and without a doubt, they are capable of competing with other companies in Macedonia and launch most of the country’s projects well and with good quality,” continued Dr Rouhani.
He also described strengthening cultural cooperation and interaction between the people of the two countries important.
Explaining the roots of terrorism and its global threats, President Rouhani said: “Iran has valuable experiences in combating terrorism and can provide other countries, including Macedonia with these experiences”.
Rouhani also underscored the need to vaccinate the youth against extremist ideas, especially in cyberspace and said: “Some are trying to attribute deviant thoughts to Islam, which has no connection with Islam and Muslims, to attract the youth to terrorism and extremist actions”.
In this meeting, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Macedonia Nikola Poposki said: “Skopje is determined to deepen ties with the Islamic Republic of Iran in all fields and in doing so, it will soon open its embassy in Tehran”.
Referring to his own and accompanying entourage negotiations with the Iranian officials, Poposki added: “Groundwork is set for accelerated development of Tehran-Skopje ties and the presence of a big delegation of Macedonian merchants in Tehran is the indicator of our firm resolve to deepen relations”.
On terrorism, he said: “Unfortunately, Europe has long neglected the crisis and fighting this phenomenon, which is of common concern to the international community, needs coordination between, and attempts by all countries”.
