AhlulBayt News Agency - The final stage of Algeria’s 6th national Quran competition titled “Taj-ol-Quran” began on April 21 in Algiers, the capital city.
According to radioalgerie website, the opening ceremony of the competition was attended by Muhammad Isaa, the North African country's Minister of Endowments and Religious Affairs.
Hamid Qarin, Algeria’s Minister of Communications, Tawfiq Khaladi, Director General of Algerian TV and Sha’ban Lounakel, Director General of Algeria’s National Radio were also present at the ceremony.
Addressing the program, Muhammad Isaa highlighted the cultural influence of the Quranic event in the society and said that by covering the national competition, the TV programs in fact feature the adherence of Algerian people to their religion and country.
He added that the competition encourages the people to memorize the Divine verses.
Hamid Qarin appreciated the efforts of the organizers of the competition and underlined the event;’s positive effects.
He also asked the media of the country to better cover the competition.
The preliminary stage of the competition was held on March 20 to 30 in different provinces of Algeria.
Six representatives, including three men and three women, were selected from each province to compete in the final stage.
