Ayatollah Nouri: US, UK using missile issue as an excuse

Ayatollah Nouri-Hamadani has stated that despite the signing of the JCPOA agreement between Iran and the P5+1 group of countries on Iran’s nuclear program, several countries, including the US and the UK, are using the missile issue as an excuse for recent anti-Iran remarks.

AhlulBayt News Agency - Grand Ayatollah Hoseyn Nouri-Hamadani stressed upon the need to maintain and strengthen the revolutionary spirit in the Islamic Seminaries.

He made the remarks during a meeting with the head and members of the board of directors of the Assembly of Representatives of Seminary Students and Staff of the Islamic Seminary of Qom.

The revered source of emulation noted that the Seminary must not be silent because in order to protect the Islamic Revolution, we require the participation of conscious, responsible, committed and compassionate people.

“The Seminary should have a say in political issues and stand up and courageously state its position against un-Islamic and anti-revolutionary policies,” he added.

In another part of his speech, Ayatollah Nouri referred to the JCPOA and excuses made by certain Western powers since the agreement was implemented on January 16, 2016, saying: “Despite the agreement reached [with the P5+1 group of countries] on the nuclear issue, several countries, including the United States and the United Kingdom, have used the missile issue as an excuse [for recent anti-Iran remarks].”

Ayatollah Nouri-Hamadani said that the West is untrustworthy and unreliable and our experiences demonstrate that Iran can never find common ground with the West, especially with the US, because of the nature of their crimes, aggression and the existence of a spirit of domination ingrained in them.

His Eminence stressed that the fight against the imperial powers is one of the principles of the Islamic Revolution and added that we should never be optimistic and assume that we can have a good relationship with the West. “If we lift our hand from our principles and revolution for even one day and completely surrender to them, then on that day they will have nothing to do with us,” he stated.

The renowned scholar said: “We know the West well and stand against the imperialists and we must continue this way with power.”
