National Quran competition to be held in Singapore

A national Quranic recitation competition will be held in Singapore next week.

AhlulBayt News Agency - A national Quranic recitation competition will be held in Singapore next week. According to muis.gov.sg website, the contest is aimed at discovering new talents in the field of reciting the Quran, encouraging interest towards recitation of the Quran, identifying potential Quran memorizers to represent Singapore at the international level, inculcating a culture of reading and memorizing the Noble Quran as integral part of life.

Slated for Saturday and Sunday, April 2-3, it will be held for three age groups: Children 7 – 12 years (30th Juz (part) of the Quran); Youth 13-18 years (Juz’ 1-5 or Juz’ 26-30); and Adults 19-25 years (Juz’ 1-10 or Juz’ 21-30).

The contestants’ performance will be judged based on their skills in Hifz (memorization), pronunciation (Tajweed) and fluency (Fasahah).

The Darul Aman Mosque in Singapore City will host the two-day event.

Champion Qari and Qariah will receive a trophy and finalists will receive a certificate and cash prizes at the closing ceremony on Sunday.
