Iran President: Tehran, Islamabad Determined to Combat Terrorism

“Both countries are determined to develop mutual ties, especially in the field of economy,” said President Rouhani after signing of 6 cooperation agreements between Iran and Pakistan.

The documents were signed by the high-ranking delegations of Iran and Pakistan at the presence of President Rouhani and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

Thanking Pakistani nation and government’s hospitality, Dr Rouhani referred to his negotiations with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and said: “In these negotiations we discussed economic issues and its development capabilities, especially in the fields of energy, gas, and exporting gas”.

He also said that they discussed ways of developing business cooperation including free trade and creating border markets, as well as developing ties between Gwadar and Chabahar ports.

“Developing Tehran-Islamabad cultural relations has always been underlined” he said, adding that cultural commonalities between the two nations are significant factors for closer relations and ties between the two countries.

On maintaining security in Pakistan, he said: “Both countries are determined to combat terrorism”.

He also referred to the need for establishing and strengthening stability in the region and said: “Tehran and Islamabad share the viewpoint that the issues of the region should be solved through negotiations and political ways”.

President Rouhani also congratulated the government and nation of Pakistan on the Day of Pakistan.
