Holy Quran to be translated in 180 languages in Turkey

A Turkish official with Religious Affairs Department (Diyanet) said the country has plans to publish the Quran’s translations in 180 languages.

AhlulBayt News Agency - A Turkish official with Religious Affairs Department (Diyanet) said the country has plans to publish the Quran’s translations in 180 languages.

Mazhar Bilgin expressed hope that translation and publication of the Quran in 180 languages spoken around the world will be done in the near future, al-Quds al-Arabi daily reported.

He noted that the Quran’s renderings into English, French, Russian, Spanish, Kyrgyz, Bulgarian, Kazakh, and Bosnian has already been completed and that they are being printed by the department.

Bilgin went on to say that Diyanet seeks to provide translations of the Quran for speakers of all languages.

In February, Yıldıray Kaplan, another Diyanet official, said, "We do aim to translate and gradually publish the Holy Quran in all the languages spoken in the world.”

The project to publish Quran in foreign languages is part of a campaign that Diyanet launched in recent years.

The project's motto is "Do not let any language remain without the Quran’s message.”

The copies in different languages will be sent to countries where these languages are spoken. Anyone who wants to read the Muslim Holy Book will also have access to a digital translation, according to Diyanet.
