AhlulBayt News Agency - The Women Affairs Department in Alwefaq National Islamic Society issued a statement on International Women’s Day (8 March) reminding that 3 Bahraini women are still behind bars due to their political views. Alwefaq’s Women demanded their immediate release and to halt arrests against women solely for practicing right to freedom of expression and opinion.
“We call on all human rights organizations around the world, especially those concerned with women rights, to put more pressure to resolve the Bahraini woman issues, that have been pending since February 14th 2011, and stop injustice and discrimination against women in Bahrain”.
Alwefaq statement, also, mentioned the paradox in terms of nonstop encroachments against the women perpetrated by the Bahraini authorities since February 14th 2011 until the moment, whilst, all the world celebrate this day with high respect of women’s achievements who make extraordinary contributions every day across all fields of human endeavor, including in business, education, sports, art, science, agriculture, parenting, and governance.
“The woman is the mainstay of the society. She plays a pivotal role in serving the society, and deserves better appreciation than depriving them from working in the public sector, and subjecting them to arbitrary dismissals from jobs, obstructing the educational attainment by inhumanely suspending their scholarships and showing no respect to their constitutional rights”.
