Cannes Festival will show film on Palestinian captive al-Qeiq

AhlulBayt News Agency - The organizing committee of the Cannes international film festival will show a short film on the Palestinian prisoner, Mohammad al-Qeiq, who underwent a 94-day hunger strike in Israeli jails.

The film which was directed by Nawras Abu Saleh lasts for 11 minutes by the one-shot style. It represents the relationship between the Palestinian hunger striker al-Qeiq and the Israeli investigator.

The director Abu Saleh plays the role of captive Qeiq and Ahmad al-Omary plays the role of the Israeli investigator.

The film is perceived as a great contribution to bring the issue of Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails to international forums and to shed light on the conditions of Palestinian captives who are detained under the illegal administrative detention.

Detainee Mohammad al-Qeiq struggled with hunger strike for over three months in protest against administrative detention. He did the strike on the Irish way; that is, he refused to take supplements and to undergo medical tests. He had only water. This made his experience the first of its kind in the history of Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails.
