Lebanon’s resistance movement, Hezbollah, has described the [Persian] Gulf Cooperation Council member states as “reckless and hostile” after they branded the movement a terrorist organization.
The group's bloc in the Lebanese Parliament said on Thursday that it holds Saudi Arabia responsible for the [P]GCC decision.
The bloc said after its weekly meeting: “The (P)GCC's decision is reckless aggression and we hold the Saudi regime responsible for it and its consequences.”
Holding Saudi Arabia accountable for the decision, the bloc considered that it matched the Israeli description for Hezbollah.
The bloc's statement noted that (P)GCC decision lies in the context of the Saudi-Israeli attempts to strengthen their ties, asserting that it won't prevent the party from condemning the Saudi regime for its violations in Yemen, Syria as well as Iraq and coordination with the Zionist entity, the usurper of Palestine.
In this context, the Loyalty to the Resistance bloc also welcomed Interior Minister Nohad al-Mashnouq's objection on Wednesday to the designation of Hezbollah as a terror group.
On Wednesday, the six-nation Arab bloc decided to label Hezbollah a terrorist organization. The [P]GCC comprises Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.
Later on, interior ministers from several Arab countries took the same stance, denouncing the "practices of terrorist Hezbollah," during the 33rd session of the Council of Arab Interior Ministers in the Tunisian capital.
Lebanese resistance movement, Amal, denounced on Thursday decision announced by the Gulf Cooperation Council to blacklist Hezbollah as a “terrorist organization,” stressing that the Lebanese party is a resistance movement.
In a statement released by its politburo, Amal said that statements made by the [P]GCC and Arab ministers in Tunis “should be applied on the groups which have been posing real danger on the national security of our nation.”
These groups, Amal added, are well known for recruiting youths as they represent militant and international terrorism that threatens the entire Arab world.
“These groups are smuggling arms and explosives as they sow sedition and carry out the most horrible crimes and genocides against all sects,” Amal said in the statement.
As the movement voices rejection to the statements by [P]GCC and Arab ministers, it called for revision of such decisions, noting that such blacklisting should be against the Zionist entity which represents the real terrorism.
Also in Lebanon, Head of Marada movement hailed Hezbollah as a “source of pride for Lebanon and Arabs.”
On his Twitter account, Frangieh voiced regretted “Hezbollah’s stoning by kin,” referring to [P]GCC’s decision, and noting that such act “pleases our only enemy, which is Israel.”
On the other hand, Palestinian resistance movement, Islamic Jihad, denounced [P]GCC statement as an escalation that “adds fuel to fire” and threatens the region’s security and stability.
The Islamic Jihad meanwhile, praised Hezbollah as a resistance movement who has a history in the struggle against the Zionist entity as well as in supporting the Palestinian cause.
The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine - General Command also condemned the decision, stressing that the one who is exporting the Takfiri ideology and is calling for normalizing ties with the Zionist entity can’t describe others as terrorists.
Former Lebanese Prime Minister Salim al-Hoss refused [P]GCC’s statement, stressing that such decision serves the interests of Palestine’s enemy as it also sows discord within our nation.
Hoss also said that the decision threatens the unity of the Lebanese people.
As soon as the [P]GCC blacklisted the Lebanese party of Resistance - Hezbollah - on Israeli regime’s mass media welcomed the resolution, terming it "critical and serious," reflecting a great relief among Israelis who have been seeking to fight Hezbollah from the Arab gate.
Former Israeli regime’s foreign minister Tzipi Livni hailed the GCC resolution as "an important step, while Zionist daily Maariv stated that "blacklisting Hezbollah is an achievement that serves Israel."
