25 Quran activists from Iran and other countries of the Muslim world were honored at the 14th edition of the Congress of Women Quran Researchers.
The event was held Thursday, March 3, at Milad Tower here in the Iranian capital of Tehran.
Present at the congress were number of Quranic, religious, cultural and political officials including Judiciary chief Ayatollah Sadeq Amoli Larijani, head of the Parliament’s Quran and Etrat Fraction Laleh Eftekhari, Head of the Iranian Academics Quranic Activities Organization Hamid Saber Farzam and head of the Quran Radio Mohammad Hossein Mohammadzadeh.
Eftekhari in an address said the presence of some 1500 women Quran activists in the congress showed the extent of Quranic activities among women in the country.
Also speaking was Ayatollah Amoli Larijani who hailed the attention paid in the country to the Quran and Quranic studies.
This much attention to the Quran and Quranic research and the presence of women Quran researchers in Iran is a great blessing which should be cherished and appreciated, he said.
Hojat-ol-Islam Ahmad Ahmadi, the secretary of the congress, in his speech commended the Quranic works of Iranian women as unpresented in the world.
He added that in addition to the field of Quranic studies, Iranian women are active in such fields as teaching the Quran, interpretation, Quranic arts and Quran memorization.
