In meeting with German FM:

Iranian President: Terrorists’ financial, weaponry sources should be obstructed

Iranian President said that all channels to transferring of financial aids and support to terrorist must be blocked.

“Tehran and Berlin are determined to deepen cooperation in political, economic, and cultural fields” said President Rouhani in a meeting with Germany's Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier.

In this meeting which was held on Wednesday in Tehran, Dr Rouhani referred to the official implementation of the JCPOA and said: “We should use the post-JCPOA and post-sanctions era to develop the level of cooperation between the two countries, especially by considering the fact that Germany had been Iran’s first trade partner among the EU member countries during a period”.

Emphasizing that the necessity of establishing and programming a long-term cooperation and relation between Tehran and Berlin, he said: "Iran is going on with signing and implementing some strategic agreements with some countries and is planning to pave the pre-planned roadmap to sign with some others, as well".

"Iran has prepared the opportunities to start mutual cooperation in different fields of industry, mining, energy, railroad and tourism, therefore, Germany can play an active role in the said fields", President said.

Referring to Germany's positive and constructive role in the course of Iran and G5+1 nuclear talks, Rouhani said: "As a precise and rapid implementation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) is to the benefit of all parties, so all should strive hard to reinforce the bases of the JCPOA".

"JCPOA as successful example of any such agreements, paved the way for good international interaction and talks about any other international issues, therefore we should never stop the efforts to take example of such win-win deals to solve any other regional issues, as well", he added.

Dr Rouhani said: "Beside the cooperation to promote their mutual ties, Iran and Germany can also start cooperation to solve some of the regional and international issues, especially to stop terrorism and establish peace and stability in the region, as well".

Also indicating that all channels to transferring of financial aids and support to terrorist must be blocked, he said: "Terrorism is a serious danger, and as it has extended its domain to European Union, all countries should do their best to tackle and fight against it".

During the same meeting, Foreign Minister Steinmeier stressed that a new chapter in relations of EU and Germany with Iran has been started with JCPOA implementation and said: “Berlin is determined to develop ties with Tehran in political, economic, cultural, and academic fields”.

He also interpreted his two trips to Tehran during a three-month period as a sign of Berlin’s eagerness to develop ties with Iran in all areas, and said: “Relations between the two countries during this period has witnessed a jump and major German companies are willing to enter Iran’s market to invest and establish joint ventures”.

Steinmeier also said: “In the course of year 2015, ten major German political and economic delegations visited Iran and negotiated with their Iranian partners; currently eight other major economic delegations are queueing up for travelling to Tehran and these trips clear the way for joint ventures”.

“To solve the issue of terrorism, we should stop the scourge from growing, and one of the factors in doing so, is confronting extremism in the region,” he said, referring to the need to combat terrorism.
