Malaysian Police Detain 7 Suspected ISIS Members Planning Terror Attacks

Malaysian police have arrested seven suspected members of ISIS terrorist group, who were planning terrorist attacks in the country, police chief Khalid Abu Bakar said Sunday.

Malaysian police have arrested seven suspected members of ISIS terrorist group, who were planning terrorist attacks in the country, police chief Khalid Abu Bakar said Sunday.

The arrests continued for three days since January 22 in several country's states, according to Bakar.

"The suspects were planning attacks on strategic locations in the country," Bakar was quoted as saying by Malaysia’s Straits Times newspaper.

According to Khalid, one of the detainees received instructions from an Indonesian militant, who is currently in Syria and is linked to the January 14 terrorist attacks in Jakarta, which claimed the lives of at least 7 people.

Malaysia was put on security alert earlier this month after a string of bomb and gun terror attacks in neighboring Indonesia. The ISIS militants claimed responsibility for the Jakarta massacre.
