Iran’s Foreign Ministry condemned a Thursday terrorist attack in Libya that killed scores of people in the western city of Zliten.
Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Hossein Jaberi Ansari condemned a suicide bomb attack on a military training center in Libya’s Zilten that claimed at least 65 lives.
He also expressed concern about deterioration of the security conditions in the African country.
The Iranian spokesman further emphasized the need for an end to the ongoing conflicts in Libya through national dialogue, which would serve the interests of the Libyan nation and reject terrorism.
“The Islamic Republic of Iran has always warned against the consequences of support for and instrumental use of the terrorist groups by the aliens and the countries that serve as their (terrorists’) source of intellectual inspiration, funds and arms,” Jaberi Ansari added.
Earlier on Thursday, a truck bomb exploded at a police training center in Zliten, where the town’s mayor said hundreds of recruits were gathering near the gates.
Four local hospitals reportedly declared emergencies due to the large number of casualties from the attack, which is believed to have wounded 127 people.
The incident came amid intense clashes between ISIL terrorists and the Libyan security forces some 450 km away at central oil ports.
