In the wake of the cruel execution of prominent Shiite cleric, Sheikh Nimr Baqer al-Nimr, the AhlulBayt World Assembly (a.s.) issued a statement as follows:
In the Name of Allah
(( … And do not speak of those who are slain in the way of Allah as dead; nay, (they are) alive, but you do not perceive ::: Surah al-Baqara: Verse 154 ))
The Al Saud authoritarian regime, continuing its repressive and dictatorial policy, martyrized the brave Mujahid Ayatollah Sheikh Nimr al-Nimr through an illegal action in a puppet court.
The great martyr, Sheikh Al-Nimr, during his peaceful and legitimate movement, never resorted to force or armed actions. Through his enlightening lectures, he always criticized the organized tribal discriminatory policies especially in the Eastern regions, and more particularly, in two regions Al-Ahsa and Al-Qatif for about a century.
Sheikh Nimr, rejected any insult to the dignity of citizens, especially the followers of Ahlulbayt (a.s.), in the country, who were considered second-class citizens in the view of Al Saud regime, having no rights of citizenship.
Sheikh Nimr insisted on the equality of rights for all citizens and emphasized on the need for free elections. He also highlighted the necessity for reconstruction of Holy Imams’ graves in Baqi cemetery in Medina and recognition of Shiism as one of the Islamic sects.
He also asked for reforming the teaching methods and textbooks in Saudi Arabia.
Al Saud regime, having no evidence of violence or armed movement by Sheikh Nimr, unjustly sentenced him to death and eventually martyred him because of his cry for justice and truth.
This brutal act by the oppressive regime of Saudi Arabia has been implemented - contrary to all international conventions and human rights principles - in retaliation for the humiliating defeat in the political, military, and economic arenas to cover up its crimes in the killings of Yemen and bombing of infrastructures, hospitals, schools and houses of the oppressed people of Yemen, and to hide its material and moral support for aiding Takfirst groups and terrorists in Syria, Iraq and other regions of the world.
The Ahlulbayt World Assembly, according to its legal and humane duty, while condemning the unjust, un-Islamic and inhuman action of the oppressive rulers of the House of Saud, expresses its deep concern about the criminal act and urges international organizations, pro-democracy associations, and truth-seekers worldwide, particularly Muslim scholars, to condemn this horrible crime and react against it.
All governments around the world, even non-Islamic and secular regimes, show special respect for their scholars and great intellectuals; but this criminal act proved that that the Saudis have no respect for Muslim scholars and even the general public in Muslim World.
No doubt, the execution of Sheikh Nimr is a crime that will have broad consequences. People who are seeking freedom and justice shall not remain silent against the atrocities of the bloodthirsty regime of Al Saud and will teach the Saudis a deserving lesson.
(( … And they who act unjustly shall know to what final place of turning they shall turn back (Surah Al-Shuaraa: Verse 227)
