Zaria Shia Massacre: Sheikh El-Zakzaki's cousin says his whereabouts is still Unknown

Ahlul Bayt News Agency - Nigerian religious leader Sheikh Ibrahim al-Zakzaky's whereabouts is still unknown, his cousin said on Wednesday.

Deputy Head of Benin Islamic Union Sheikh Issa Yousef made the remarks on the sidelines of International Islamic Unity Conference in Tehran on Tuesday.

Underlining that because of political issues, he can not talk too much about his cousin, he said that efforts for finding the whereabouts of Sheikh al-Zakzaki still made no result.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Sheikh Yousef referred to the civil war in the Islamic countries and said that Muslims should avoid insulting other sects of Islam and avoid provocative measures.

He urged all Muslims around the world to stress on their commonalities and try to resolve their problems through dialogue.

Appreciating Tehran for holding the Islamic Unity Conference, the cleric called Iran's role in the Islamic World as 'unifying'.

There is good co-existence between Shia and Sunni Muslims in Benin, he said.

On the last leg of a three-day event held in the Iranian capital of Tehran, participants of the 29th International Islamic Unity Conference held its closing ceremony on Tuesday evening and released its final statement to reiterate their commonalities and express their abhorrence of Takfiri, extremist moves.

Participants in this conference maintained that present violence and terrorism faced by the World of Islam are within preplanned plots to tarnish the image of Islam and provide the grounds for intervention of the enemies in the domestic affairs of Muslims.

Like previous years, the 29th edition of the Islamic Unity Conference was also held on the auspicious occasion of the anniversary of Holy Prophet (PBUH) birthday, which marks the Muslim Unity Week.

Over 300 Muslim figures and scholars from 70 countries attended this event. 12 specialized committees discussed different themes including Muslim world’s conditions today, resistance movement, women and family, youth, academics, sciences and technology, etc.
