Ahlul Bayt News Agency - When the Former President of Nigeria, Goodluck Jonathan government killed three of Sheikh Zakzaky’s sons last July, along with 31 other faithfuls, Sheikh Zakzaky did nothing in anger. Of seven sons, three had been killed and the respected leader of as many 10 million Muslims in Nigeria did not even stage a protest. He simply mourned and promised to only fight Nigeria via legal means.
Very few African respected figures ever command such control and character. Many religious leaders order violent and deadly protests for stupid things like “beauty pageants” and someone tearing a Quran in faraway lands. Any other Nigerian leader/elite known will never and has never exhibited such peaceful nature and patience as extolled by the Prophets and Messiahs. In comparison, when General Buhari, the current President of Nigeria, actually lost the 2011 elections, he said, if the election malpractice that transpired then repeated in 2015, the baboon and dog will be soaked in the same blood, which though may not have been a speech of violence, will well have inspired violence had Buhari lost in 2015.
For over a year since the unaddressed massacre of Zakzaky’s faithfuls, the millions did nothing; it was only when according to them they saw at 12 noon that the Nigerian army stationed men with boxes of ammunition in front of their center that fateful December 12th day as can be seen captured in featured image above and below, that they got irked. They immediately foresaw another massacre coming and asked the soldiers why they were stationed there, begging them to move back.
This was when they picked sticks and stones and went to block the advance of more soldiers towards them including the vehicle of the Chief of Army staff. In the video clip they are heard saying: “why did you station troops in front of our door this morning? Do you plan to massacre us again If so, do it right here, we will rather die pretending to fight.” The degree of army massacre at all their sites, even may unrelated to the road block, that followed proved that their apprehension and precaution was in order.
We commends Sheikh Zakzaky and the millions of faithfuls for their exemplary show of inter-faith dialogue, peace, tolerance and patience and prays they keep this up in the face of extreme provocation and persecution.
