Thousands Members of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN), yesterday morning protested on the streets of Kano to mark the birthday of Prophet Muhammad and mourn the killings of hundreds of their colleagues in Zaria two weeks ago by Army soldiers.

Ahlul Bayt News Agency -  Thousands Members of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN), yesterday morning protested on the streets of Kano to mark the birthday of Prophet Muhammad and mourn the killings of hundreds of their colleagues in Zaria two weeks ago by Army soldiers.

“ Since the Inspector General of Nigerian Police has said followers of Sheikh Ibraheem Yaquob El Zakzaky (H) are free to visit their leader, only about One Million from Kano zone will be ready to visit Shaikh Ibraheem Zakzaky (H) when due”- Mallam Sanusi Abdulqadir.

Although Muslims globally are celebrating the Prophet Muhamamd’s birthday through Eid-el Maulud, the Shiites used the occasion to campaign for the release of their leader, Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky, and hundreds of their detained members.

Scores were reportedly killed by troops by the order of Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai.

The protesting Shiites, led by Sanusi Abdulkadir, said they were mourning the “genocidal carnage” by the Army.

There was a massive turnout of members, including children and women, many of whom dressed in black. They first gathered at Kabara and passed through Soron Dinki, Makwarari Jakara, Kwanar Dala, da Gwammaja and Kofar Mazuma in Kano metropolis.

Abdulhamid Bello, on behalf of IMN, issued a statement titled: “Mourning while celebrating Maulud Nabiy.”

The participants of the procession held various flags, posters while voicing the purpose of the procession, and giving a paper release signed by Mal Abdul Hamid Bello on the stance of the Islamic Movement on the Arrest of its Leader as well as  presented gift items to onlookers. Likewise with Ittihadul Shu’arah singing  praise of our Noble Prophet (PBUT).

“We are out to mourn the killings, maimings and wanton destruction of thousands of lives and properties at Baqiyyatullah Husainiyya, Darur Rahma and residence of our leader Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky (H),” the statement said.

“We want the whole world to know what the hand of tyranny has meted on the followers of Messenger of mercy (SAW) on the eve month of Prophet birthday. They maimed, detained and massacred the sons and daughters of Islam under baseless pretences using oppressive and suppressive force ever known in Nigeria.

The Shiites led by Mallam Sanusi Abdulkadir said it has been their practice to partake in the celebratory message of Maulud Nabiy, but this year's message is different because they are out to mourn the genocidal carnage perpetrated by the Nigerian Army against their member in Zaria.

The Shiites procession witnessed massive turnout of the sect members comprising men, women and children who mostly dressed in black attires.
