Nigeria - Ahlul Bayt News Agency - Yobe State deputy leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria, Mallam Bala Afuwa, has confirmed the missing of their leader Mallam Lawan Mustapha Nasidi, following the Zaria attacks by Nigerian Army.
In a chat with newsmen, Mallam Bala Afuwa, who confirmed the missing of their leader, Mallam Mustapha Lawan Nasidi, one week ago, shortly after the soldiers invaded the residents of the movement’s leader, Sheik Ibrahim El-Zakzaky in Zaria, Kaduna State said Muhammed Mahmud Turi and Lawan Nasidi were among those inside the house of their national leader, during the attack by Nigeria soldiers.
He said that during the attack on El-Zakzaky’s house many leaders, close allies and other members were killed.
Afuwa said: “We believe that during the battle our Yobe Amir, Mustapha Nasidi was inside the house of El-Zakzaky. We heard that he was killed, so I don’t know the whereabouts of our leader.”
He expressed concern over alleged President Buhari’s inaction on the crisis saying that this will spell doom for the government as innocent lives of women and children were wasted without him taking action.
Mallam Bala appealed to the Northern governors, President Buhari, inspector general of police and chief of army staff to immediately release their leader and other Amirs without further delay.
He added that for over 40 years they have been doing their programmes without any problems insisting that they are not trouble makers. “We know our right, Nigerian constitution allows everybody his or her rights to practice his religion without any harassment,” he said.
He therefore called on members of the movement to intensify prayers until their leader and other Amirs have been released from custody without further delay.
He assured that they will not relent in prayers until their leader is released.
He said that the Zaria incident was a violation of their right to practice their religion.
He described democracy as government of the people and by the people saying without people it means there is no government. He said that there is the need for everyone to be allowed to practice his or her religion based on the constitution without hindrance.
