Islamic Movement of Nigeria denounce governor of Kaduna State over Property Demolition in Zaria

The Islamic Movement of Nigeria has decried the demolition of their properties across Zaria by the Kaduna State Government Elrufai.

Ahlul Bayt News Agency - The Islamic Movement of Nigeria has decried the demolition of their properties across Zaria by the Kaduna State Government Elrufai.

A statement yesterday by its spokesperson Ibrahim Musa said the Islamic movement is particularly annoyed by the demolition of a newly bought property adjacent the Hussainiyya Baqiyatullah, a former NTC compound which has been in existence from colonial times.

The movement said the Governor Elrufai didn’t stopped at that, the state government has used the Kaduna State Urban and Property Development Agency (KASUPDA) to demolish their Fudiyya Islamic Centre, where its Islamic activities were held before relocating to the Husainiyyah some five years ago.

He said the family house of their spiritual leader Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky, which houses his mother's burial place at the Jushi quarters of Tudun Wada, Zaria was equally demolished yesterday by KASUPDA.

Already, the residence of Sheikh Zakzaky, Darur Rahma film village as well as the Hussainiyyah, were demolished.

The Islamic Movement warned the state government against trying its patience and endurance through further destruction of properties.

"We are calling on the Kaduna state Governor, Nasir Elrufai, to desist from exploiting our patience and endurance and stop further destruction of our properties.

"We condemn this act of brutality against the Islamic Movement. This atrocity is a pointer to the fact that, while the government is busy telling the public that they want peace to prevail after the massacre, but at the same time it is out to provoke us more.

"We believe if the government is truly searching for avenues for peaceful resolution to this crisis, the government should be seen by all to be following due process in whatever breach they are accusing the movement," he said.
