Ahlul Bayt News Agency - Peaceful members of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria took to the streets of Lafia, Nasarawa state capital, to express their anger against the arrest of their leader, Sheikh Ibraheem El Zakzaky.
The leader of the protesters, Mallam Sani Malfa addressed the crowds at Kofar Mata after three hours of protesting.
“We demand immediate release of Shiek Zakzaky. We want him to be released for him to be treated by doctors of his choice over the injuries he sustained by Army. We are also calling the authority to allow us to see Shiek Zakzaky for us to know his condition eye to eye,” he said.
It would be recalled that the family of Sheikh Ibrahim Zakzaky is still trying to make contact with the leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN) was arrested in Zaria, Kaduna state on Sunday, December 13.
According to Sheikh Ibrahim Zakzaky’s son, Muhammad Ibraheem, they are still unaware of his whereabouts and current health status. The only surviving son of the leader has said that the Nigerian army killed three of his brothers during the attack on their residence in Zaria.
Muhammed said that his three brothers Hammad, 17, Ali, 15, and Humaid, 13, were all shot dead in front of their father during the raid by the army last week.
Last week the Nigerian army has released another photo of severely injured Sheikh Zakzaky, which left the Shiite community traumatized.
The photo as well as other evidence raised concerns about the Nigerian military acting unlawfully as Mr. Zakzaky’s rights are not being preserved.
