Grand Ayatollah Mohsen Araki, Secretary General of the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought, attended the ceremony for commemoration of the martyrs in Zaria attack against Shia mourners urging international bodies and political leader of Nigeria to take serious measures for release of Sheikh Ibrahim al Zakzaky, leader of Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN).
He called the mass killing of Shia Muslims in Nigeria as one of the biggest catastrophes of the era and noted that world people, claimants of Human Rights and world leaders, particularly leaders of the Islamic states should react against the attack on Nigerian Shia Muslims.
The cleric criticized some Muslim state leaders for their neutral and even supportive role in regards to the incident in Zaria which has led to mass killing of the Shia Muslims and detention of the Shia leader on IMN.
Iranian religious figure also extended regret over the silence of African leaders and noted,” One of the biggest terrorist attacks happens in the heart of Africa, then how is it that African politicians and other states do not show the least reaction to the incident?”
He called the ceremony in Qom as the outcry of Iranian seminaries to the world denouncing the killing of Shia Muslims in Zaria and said,” we think that those behind this attack are the opposite side to human rights and are prone to commit similar crimes; therefore, international court should probe into this case as a preventive measure to future similar attacks.”
He stressed,” We will not leave the probe into this crime and accompanied with world liberal people will pursue the criminals behind this attack.”
Ayatollah Araki called the Zaria attack on Shia community as the beginning step and said,” The more crimes committed by criminals and anti-Islamic movements, the clearer message of Imam Hussein (AS) will be heard and the more enthusiasts will be absorbed to Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) and Ahlul Bayt (AS).
