Three Moroccan soldiers get two-year jail for carrying ISIS flag

Three Moroccan soldiers have been found guilty and sentenced to two years in prison for possession of a flag of the ISIS terrorist group.

Three Moroccan soldiers have been found guilty and sentenced to two years in prison for possession of a flag of the ISIS terrorist group.

One of the soldiers reportedly crafted the terrorist group's flag, which was then passed to the second and third soldier.

The three soldiers who were in Tichla, in southern Morocco, were found guilty by the Military Court. The Permanent Military Tribunal of the Royal Armed Forces (TMP) in Rabat sentenced the defendants to two-year jail terms.

“The three soldiers were prosecuted under Article 196 of the Code of Military Justice for breach of military rules,” the daily noted.

Three months ago, the Royal Gendarmerie noticed that an ISIS terrorist flag was in possession of one of the accused.

The flag was discovered and confiscated when authorities searched the home of the suspect.

“The soldier in question, meanwhile, was immediately transferred to the headquarters of the Royal Gendarmerie of Agadir,” the same source said.

During police interrogation, the soldier revealed the identity of the second soldier who gave him the ISIS flag.

Consequently, the second soldier was detained and he revealed the name of the third soldier who had originally made the flag.

According to sources cited by the daily, the third soldier said that he crafted the terrorist flag out of curiosity after learning how to make it on the Internet and that he had no relationship with ISIS militants.

However, an investigation by the scientific laboratory of the Gendarmerie found a “close relationship” between the third soldier and an extremist in Salé, a city in north-western Morocco.
