Al Wefaq National Islamic Society rejects the fake accusations brought against former MP Sheikh Hasan Isa and is based on malicious procedures.
Sheikh Hasan Isa gained the highest percentage vote in Bahrain when he ran for the 2010 parliamentary elections. He is well known for his patriotism and continued open efforts to maintain peace and stability, far from any forms of violence.
It is reprehensible to treat a prominent national and religious figure and all the political prisoners as such starting from the arbitrary arrest and building a fabricated case against him. The accusations are visibly driven by political-motives to distort the image of the peaceful national opposition and its figures after the government’s failure to hide the political problem and evade from a settlement. The government is now trying to exploit the joint counter-terrorism surge.
Al Wefaq is demanding the immediate release of Sheikh Hasan Isa and the political prisoners. The government is going in the wrong direction by complicating the political scene and moving farther away from solutions that achieve stability.
