Speaking to scholars, intellectuals, leaders and cultural activists in the Iranian province of Kordestan’s capital of Sanandaj, Grand Ayatollah Hoseyn Nouri-Hamadani stressed upon the necessity of paying attention to the important Islamic principle of unity and added that one of the aspects of the victory and progress of the Islamic Revolution was the expression of unity.
The revered source of emulation emphasized on the need to strengthen unity in society and called on political activists working within the framework of the Iran’s Islamic system of government to set aside their differences and promote the thought of the sacred Islamic system of government in Iran.
Ayatollah Nouri-Hamadani said the promotion of internal conflicts and dissension is one of the arenas which is very effective for the success of the enemies’ agenda in the Islamic world and thus we must protect our vigilance and insight to block their attempts to infiltrate Muslims.
This predominantly Sunni province is a “very important and sensitive border region” for Iran, said the Shi’ite scholar said, stressing upon the unity of the Islamic schools of thought, especially among Sunnis and Shi’ites.
“Praise be to God that in our country, Sunnis and Shi’ites live together and have no problems with each other,” he said.
He said that the path to salvation and prosperity is to found by acting on the Quran and obeying the Ahlul-Bayt, stressing that this belief is a focal point for all of Muslims, both Sunnis and Shi’ites.
“Fortunately, in this province, the unity and harmony between Sunnis and Shi’ites is very good and the importance and magnitude of this blessings must be recognised.”
In another part of his speech, Ayatollah Nouri-Hamadani referred to the dangers of the Takfiri ideology, saying that the Western powers created Takfiri groups such as ISIL and Boko Haram as part of an agenda to incite Muslims to turn against each other and kill each other.
He added that the Takfiri ideology is completely alien to Islamic principles and we must arm ourselves against them and combat the Takfiri ideology with our intellect and knowledge.
The renowned scholar stressed that Islam promotes the acquirement and usage of intellect and knowledge, adding that during the Dark Ages when the West had no knowledge, Islam was the source of knowledge and with the Crusades, the West secularized Islamic sciences.
Ayatollah Nouri-Hamadani said that the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei, has stressed upon the importance of the Islamization of the humanities and that should be done in the context of a scientific jihad.
