English-speaking Iranians and foreign nationals to commemorate Arbaeen in Tehran

Arbaeen marks the culmination of a 40-day mourning period after the anniversary of the martyrdom of Imam Hussein, Prophet Muhammad's grandson and the third Shia Imam, on the Day of Ashura.

Arbaeen marks the culmination of a 40-day mourning period after the anniversary of the martyrdom of Imam Hussein, Prophet Muhammad's grandson and the third Shia Imam, on the Day of Ashura.

On this holy event, Ummah group including foreign nationals residing in Iran as well as English-speaking Iranian nationals, will be holding three days of commemoration in Tehran starting on Tuesday and ending Thursday from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm.

Ashura reciting will be done by Mehrdad Ghasemi, while Mrs. Dehdasht will do the English Maqtal reciting – a ritual of reading narratives about the event of Ashura. Dr. Yahya Jahangiri will also deliver a lecture in English on the event.

The commemoration will take place at Eyvan-e Shams Praying Room located at Kurdestan Expressway, Golha sq, Fatemi sq, Tehran. The event is open to the public.
