The last book of George Jordac unveiled in Tehran

The last book by the late Christian Lebanese thinker and author George Jordac, who profoundly loved the character and ideas of Imam Ali (AS), the first Shia Imam and cousin and son-in-law of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), was unveiled in Tehran on Sunday.

Titled ‘The Magnificence of Nahj-ul-Balagha’, the book was unveiled in the presence of a number of Iranian and Lebanese scholars and writers at the ‘Martyrs of the Islamic Revolution’ Cultural Complex in Sarcheshmeh neighborhood, downtown Tehran.

Jordac (1931–2014) who has also authored the acclaimed book ‘Ali, the Voice of Human Justice,’ passed away last November at the age of 83 in the Lebanese capital, Beirut.

The scholar spent four decades of his life studying Imam Ali, whom Jordac called one of the greatest figures in the history of humankind.

The result of his thoughts and contemplations about the Imam is several valuable books such as ‘Ali and Human Rights’, ‘Ali and French Revolution’, ‘Ali and Socrates’, and ‘Ali and Arabian Nationalism’.

One of the most prominent writers in Lebanon and the Muslim world, Jordac always said he hoped the next generation would ponder on the treasures that lie in the rhetoric of great men especially Imam Ali.

“The history of great men is a fountain of experience, faith and aspirations for us,” Jordac said, according to FT Dasily.

Nahj-ul-Balagha is the most famous collection of sermons, letters and narrations by Imam Ali. Known for its eloquent content, it is considered a masterpiece of literature in Shiite Islam.

It comprises various issues that cover major problems of metaphysics, theology, imamate, ethics, social philosophy, history, politics, administration, civics, science, rhetoric, poetry, and literature.

The book not only reflects the spirit of Islam and the teachings of the Qur’an and the founder of the religion, but also serves as a guide to traverse the future in the light of the teachings.
