Ayatollah Makarem Shirazi commented on the success and grandeur of this year’s Muharram commemorations and stated that mourning for Imam Hussein protects Islam and Muslims from enemies.
In his advanced jurisprudence class, Ayatollah Marakem Shirazi referred to the grandeur and liveliness of the recent commemorations of the martyrdom of Imam Hussein and stated: “We must thank the lovers of Imam Hussein and Wilayah of Ahl al-Bayt for their mourning and commemorations.”
The Grand Source of Emulation further stated: “Beside the Holy Shrine of Imam Hussein, millions of people from all over the world gathered in Karbala and undertook the mourning and commemorations with a particular grandeur.”
“Only a tiny minority partook in extreme rituals and God willing these people will be guided so that eventually these rituals may disappear.”
Mentioning that the annual commemorations of the martyrdom of Imam Hussein pump fresh blood into the school of Ahl al-Bayt, Ayatollah Makarem said: “With this fresh blood, Islam and Muslims become impenetrable to the enemies.”
“I sincerely hope everyone is rewarded greatly for their actions on the Day of Judgement, and never forget the mourning of Imam Hussein.”
