Ahlul Bayt News Agency - Burning of a symbolic tent of Imam Hussein, the grandson of Islam's prophet Muhammad (PBUT), during the Ashura ceremony in Karbala, Iraq 24 October 2015 (Muharram 1437). Ashura is the peak of ten days of mourning during the Islamic month of Muharram, the first month of the lunar calendar, when Shiite Muslims mourn the slaughter of Imam Hussein 14 centuries ago in what is now Karbala in southern Iraq.
The symbolic event of burning tents to commemorate the martyrdom of Imam Hussain (PBUH) along with 72 of his companions and to remind the burning of the tents of Imam hussein’s family after his martyrdom by tyrant Yazid’s army on the day of Ashura.
