Iran never forgets Mina tragedy: Interior minister

Iran will pursue the rights of Mina victims, Interior Minister Abdolreza Rahmani-Fazli said on Sunday.

Iran will pursue the rights of Mina victims, Interior Minister Abdolreza Rahmani-Fazli said on Sunday.

Iran has never forgotten the previous tragedies happened during the Hajj pilgrimage and will not forget the recent Hajj stampede, he added.

Speaking in the funeral ceremony for the Mina tragedy victims in Mashad, he said that Saudi rulers did not respond to Iran's diplomatic efforts to help the injured and transfer dead bodies of Mina tragedy victims.

Interior minister criticized Saudi rulers for their mismanagment and incompetence during and after the Hajj stampede.

Iran will pursue the legal procedure for the Mina tragedy in order to gain the rights of victims, Rahmani-Fazli said.

He underlined that Mina tragedy proved the fact that Saudi rulers do not deserve management of Hajj pilgrimage.

On September 24, a fatal crush took place in Mina as two large crowds of pilgrims were on their way to participate in the symbolic stoning the Satan, a Hajj ritual.

104 bodies of dead Iranian pilgrims arrived at Tehran's Mehrabad Airport early Saturday and another 114 bodies arrived on Sunday.

A total of 465 Iranian pilgrims lost their lives during the Hajj rituals in Mina.
