Bahrain regime orders taking measures against Al-Wasat newspaper

Al-Hammadi added that the ministry will address international media parties that published inaccurate information about Bahrain, without avoiding the legal options in case they don't cooperate.

Ahlul Bayt News Agency - The Bahraini Information Minister Issa bin Abdulrahman Al-Hammadi said that the ministry will take legal measures against local media outlets for publishing false information about Bahraini affairs according to directions issued on Monday (August 3, 2015) by the cabinet.

Al-Hammadi added that the ministry will address international media parties that published inaccurate information about Bahrain, without avoiding the legal options in case they don't cooperate.

"what was discussed within the cabinet meeting was related to local and international media outlets. In my capacity as an Information Minister, I informed the cabinet about the ministry's efforts by monitoring, analyzing, following up and taking all the measures in this regard through implementing local laws concerning the local media. As for the international media outlets, they will be addressed so that they would correct any inaccurate information mentioned about Bahrain and asked to take information from reliable sources and in case they don't cooperate with us, we will seek legal options in this regard," he further stated.

"As for the local media institutions, we are implementing the 2002 Press Law, but we are also cooperating with other parties, in case the situation required implementing other laws and measures in this regard. If other certain cases emerge during the coming period, we will deal with them. As you know, the ministry has taken measures against some media outlets and responses were issued regarding what the international outlets had published as well," said Al-Hammadi.

It is noteworthy that the Al-Wasat Newspaper published a warning on August 4, 2015 issued by the Information Affairs Authority over an article it had published, which was written by Hani Al-Fardan.
