No country in the region can compete with Iran in medical issues: Ali Akbar Velayati

Ali Akbar Velayati: "Today Iran has grown considerably in the organ transplantation and no country in the region can compete with Iran in medical issues."

Ahlul Bayt News Agency - "Ali Akbar Velayati", the advisor of Supreme Leader and a member of the Supreme Council of the Ahlul Bayt World Assembly in the opening ceremony of the 8th Imamia Medics International Conference, which is holding now in Mashhad, said: "We are pleased that the holy city of Mashhad was selected for the opening of the Congress; of course Municipality of Mashhad has done a lot of effort to organize this Congress."

He also pointed to the achievements that Iran have during the Islamic Revolution and said: "In Western countries there are negative attitudes towards the Islamic Republic and the main reason is that Iran as a Muslim country stands up for its independence."

"Before the revolution, Iran only had 2 thousand articles in the prestigious scientific journals in the world, but today we have 300 thousand articles and in the last two years we have been ranked first in West Asia for having 37 thousand articles," he continued.

"Today Iran has grown considerably in the organ transplantation and no country in the region can compete with Iran in medical issues," he also added

The 8th International Congress of World Muslim Medics kicked off in the holy city of Mashhad, Iran today 30th July 2015.

In this congress 300 Shiite doctors from around the world will participate in the scientific meetings, workshops, pilgrimage and cultural programs.

The conference will include scientific sessions covering lectures and posters presentations, sightseeing, paying tribute to holy shrines, visits to historic places, meetings with scholars, and brain-storming sessions among others.
