Nigeria Quds Day Massacre Remembrance Day; Bring culprits behind the act to justice, even if he’s the president

Ahlul Bayt News Agency - On Thursday the 23rd of July 2015, Professor Dahiru Yahaya of the Department of History, Bayero University, Kano delivered the opening lecture on the 4-day programme to remember the Quds Day Massacre where 34 people, among them the 3 sons of sheikh Zakzaky, were martyred by the Nigerian Military while commemorating International Quds Day in Zaria on Friday the 25th of July 2014.

The University Don, who spoke on ´the necessity of bringing culprits to Justice’ called on the Nigerian government to bring criminals to justice. “It’s a duty bound on the Nigerian government to investigate the Zaria Quds day killings and bring everyone behind the act to book, even if he’s the President” he said.

The prof further said the Quds day killing was similar to the killings by despotic rulers of various era who committed such crimes to expand their empire. He therefore  said “Investigation should be carried out  and justice should  take its cause, so that Nigerians could witness”

After the lecture by Professor Yahaya, The Shu’ara Group displayed their talents by reciting well composed songs on the Quds Day Martyrs which made the audience to shed tears.

This was followed by eyewitness accounts by individuals who witnessed the whole event. The first account was given by victims who survived the Quds massacre. They explained how they were tortured in army barrack by Lt Col S. Oko after he ordered for their arrest. The second account was on the attack by the Nigerian military at Husaniyyah baqiyyatullah the following day which led to death and injuries of scores.

In her speech, the Mother of Martyrs, Malama Zeenah Ibraheem spoke on how the issue of the Palestinians has been the central issue of discussion among her children at all times adding  that support for the religion of Allah and  the Palestinian course must be upheld as this has been the hope and aspiration of her children. She explained that her children were in dare need of attaining martyrdom, though, she didn’t expect that they would be martyred on the same day.

In his speech the Leader of  the Islamic Movement in Nigeria Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky explained how Quds Day Processions in Nigeria have been the source of unrest and threat to the enemies of Islam as Nigeria is seen as the Mother of Africa. As for those who view the activities of the Islamic Movement as mob actions, the Sheikh said, the enemies know very well they are not mob actions and also know the implications and as such they don’t take it lightly. The Leader lamented on how some section of the Muslim Ummah display the attitude of indifference with regard to the issue of Al-aqsa mosque.
