According to the police statement, both suspects have reportedly held meetings in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor to plan attacks on the country.

The first suspect who is from Kuala Lumpur is believed to have been in touch with IS members in Europe, who had instructed him to plan attacks on entertainment outlets in the Klang Valley as well as on Western interests in the capital city.

The second suspect is a 31-year-old Malaysian also from Kuala Lumpur, who returned to Malaysia after sustaining injuries while fighting with the militant group in Syria, said the police.

Besides the arrests, police also seized books that contained content about extremist ideology as well as receipts of purchase of tactical gear.

Malaysia's police chief expressed concern over the incident, which he said reflects an emerging trend where locals plan terrors attacks after coming in contact with high-ranking IS members.
