Ahlul Bayt News Agency - At least three Shiite persons including a policeman were martyred and three persons were injured in a shooting incident in Quetta on Monday morning.
According to police, some unknown gunmen opened indiscriminate fire outside a passport office on Joint Road. A policeman, two brothers Shabir Hussain ana Ahsan were killed on the spot whereas three others including a woman sustained injuries.
The injured were initially shifted to Civil Hospital and then moved to the CMH for treatment.
Police and Frontier Constabulary (FC) personnel have cordoned off the crime scene and launched investigation into the incident.
"All three persons belong to Quetta's Hazara community," police said, while terming the incident an act of targeted killing.
All three victims received multiple bullets in their heads, police said. In the aftermath of the attack, shops in the area were also closed.
Earlier, an explosion outside Baldia shopping center near Bacha Khan Chowk in Quetta killed one person and injured 19 others. Reportedly, people were busy shopping for Eid at the center when the explosion took place. The security personnel said that explosives were placed in a bag.
Quetta has been under the grip of sectarian attacks for more than a decade. A large number of Hazaras have been killed in targeted killings and suicide attacks..
On July 1, at least three Shia Muslims Nadir Hussain s/o Gulzar Hussain, Asad Ali s/o Zulfiqar Ali, Ali Waris s/o Liaquat Ali were also shot martyred on Quetta’s Sirki Road.
On June 7, at least five people belonging to the said community were gunned down on Quetta’s Circular Road area near Meezan Chowk.
