Hezbollah condemned the "politicized" sentence which was issued by the Bahraini authorities against the Secretary General of Al-Wefaq Islamic Association Sheikh Ali Salman and stipulated imprisoning him for four years "on fabricated charges and untrue allegations".
In a statement issued on Tuesday, Hezbollah considered that the sentence reflects the disintegration of the Bahraini regime's ties with the people and shows the authorities' break from the hopes and aspirations of the citizens.
"The sentence displays the Bahraini regime's embroilment in preserving its domination over power by resorting to repression, arbitrary verdicts, and practices of intimidation," the statement added.
Hezbollah pointed out that this sentence against Sheikh Salman has nothing to do with the judiciary, law and justice but that it is a malicious and retaliatory verdict which expresses the anger of the authorities about the commitment of Bahrainis to the wise, peaceful and controlled movement in order to reach their legitimate goals that include finding a true national partnership and establishing a just rule which represents all the Bahrainis and reflects their desire to have a free and decent life.
Hezbollah called on the legal and civil institutions in the Arab countries and in the whole world to exert all the possible efforts in order to press on the repressive regime in Bahrain, work for the immediate release of Sheikh Salman and to support the peaceful popular movement which has prestigiously persisted on its rightful demands.
