200 Pakistani scholars: ISIL, Taliban, Al Qaeda, Boko Haram and fake jihadists un-Islamic; Suicide attacks forbidden in Islam

Ahlul Bayt News Agency - In a new move against militant groups, more than 200 Pakistani scholars have issued a decree stipulating that suicide attacks carried out by militant groups are against Islam.

“The Islamic government is bound to crush such rebels,” read a decree issued by at a conference of ulema in Lahore on Sunday, Dawn reported on Monday, May 18.

Meeting in Lahore, the scholars said the philosophy behind the so-called Islamic State (ISIL), banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan, Al Qaeda, Boko Haram and other so-called jihadi outfits was misleading.

The decree, released to the media by Maulana Ziaul Haq Naqshband, added that such groups operated in an un-Islamic manner and their thinking was flawed because it was based on poor knowledge and ignorance.

It also accused the Jihadi groups of being unmindful of the conditions that must be met before declaration of jihad.

The scholars’ condemnations have also targeted those perpetuating sectarian attacks as being guilty of ‘fasad’ [corruption], as Islam did not allow killings in the name of sect.

They added that protecting worship places of non-Muslims is mandatory for an Islamic state, according to the decree.

It described the elements opposing polio immunization campaign as “misguided people”.

“And those killing women health workers are the worst criminals,” the decree said.

The religious leaders also announced that May 22 would be observed as a “Day of Peace and Love” against terrorism and extremism.

On the day, sermons would be delivered in about 400,000 mosques against unlawful killings, Maulana Naqshbandi said.

The scholar added that an ulema board would be set up to counter the narrative of extremist organizations like the TTP and ISIL.

A movement called “Eradicate Terrorism and Save Country” would also be launched, he added.

Maulana Naqshbandi said the conference had also called for “international legislation” against blasphemy.

Militants from the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) have been widely condemned by Muslims worldwide who staged several protests to express anger against the terrorist group.

Saudi Grand Mufti Sheikh Abdul Aziz Al Sheikh has urged Muslims to take up arms against the militant group’s members, condemning them as aggressors who abuse people’s lives, possessions and honor.

Months ago, Egypt’s Grand Mufti Shawqi Allam also condemned the militants for atrocities they have been perpetrating in the countries and their violation of principles and teachings preached by Islam.

The International Union of Muslim Scholars (IUMS) has dismissed ISIL announcement of forming a “caliphate” in areas they control in Iraq and Syria, saying it lacked any Islamic or realistic aspects.

Nahdlatul Ulama (NU), Indonesia’s largest Islamic group has condemned ISIL, urging the government to take firmer action against the possible spread of the movement in Indonesia.

The Islamic Student Union (HMI) has also condemned Indonesian Muslims condoning and adhering to ISIL’s ideology.
