The joyous occasion is annually celebrated by Muslims marked by various ceremonies and rituals, on the 27th Rajab in the lunar calendar (May 16th), the day of Muhammad’s appointment as the last and greatest prophet of the Al-Mighty.

Mohammad (PBUH) often retreated to the Hira cave outside the holy city of Mecca, Saudi Arabia, to pray to God, to reflect on the true meaning of life and to ponder over life and death.

The angel Gabriel came to Mohammad in the Hira cave bringing him the message of God Almighty, telling him he was appointed as the last prophet to guide mankind out of ignorance.
