Ahlul Bayt News Agency - Ayatollah Makarem Shirazi described the United Nations and its Security Council as “useless” institutions and added that by placing “all options on the table” countries of the world can fall victim to the threats of military action by oppressive countries.
Speaking on the birth anniversary of the ninth Shi’ite Imam, Muhammad ibn Ali al-Jawad, Grand Ayatollah Naser Makarem Shirazi stated that the nonsensical speech coming from the West, especially the Americans, over Iran’s peaceful nuclear program is just a reaction.
“When they say that all options are on the table, it equivalent to a return to the law of the jungle, but they claim that civilization has returned to the rule of law,” he said.
Grand Ayatollah Makarem Shirazi criticized “useless” international organizations such as the United Nations and the Security Council, saying that the UN podium has become a place for low-quality and meaningless annual speeches.
His Eminence added that this is because some countries on UN Security Council have veto power turning the UN into a half-life organization, to the point that a weak country, like Saudi Arabia can attack Yemen and start a bloodbath there without any authorization.
Ayatollah Makarem Shirazi noted that the threat of military action is very “ugly,” saying that unfortunately this useless organization [UN] is able to place “all options on the table” whereby a weak country can fall victim to the will of an oppressive country. He added that any actions against weak countries will only lead to the “ugliness” returning to the oppressor.
The renowned source of emulation emphasized that the world should monitor the affairs of the world, saying that Syria and Iraq have been thrown into the situation it currently faces, and the crimes committed by ISIL are a result of the lack of a central organization monitoring the situation. The crimes committed by Saudi Arabia and ISIL are due to the law of the jungle, as are the threats against Iran.
Ayatollah Makarem Shirazi said the rational people of world should realize that if this situation continues, the world will never see security and if absolute lawlessness reigns in the world, we will never be able to extinguish the fire of war.
