Teen Australian suicide bomber 'Jihad' Jake Bilardi reportedly told friends his final wish was for his family to convert to Islam, before he blew himself up in a futile terrorist attack in Iraq.
The Melbourne 18-year-old drove a truck full of explosives into an Iraqi army outpost in March, but only succeeded in killing himself.
Just days before he carried out the fatal operation he spoke to a friend in Australia about his experiences, News Limited has reported.
The friend, who was unnamed, shared many of Bilardi's beliefs but said he had been surprised the teen had joined ISIL.
"He wanted to join (Al Qaeda-linked group Jabhat al Nusra)," the friend said.
Bilardi and his friend spoke about events in Iraq and Melbourne, with Bilardi asking after other friends.
However, he also expressed a fear that his family would not achieve paradise due to their status as non-Muslims.
"It was hard for him knowing his family is kaafir (unbelievers)," the friend said.
The friend said he was "happy" for Bilardi but that he also missed him.
"God willing we are reunited in paradise," he said.
