Continued detention of Al Wefaq SG 'Ali Salman' deepens crisis in Bahrain

Sheikh Hussain Aldaihi, deputy secretary general of Al Wefaq National Islamic Society, said the continued detention of Al Wefaq Secretary General means that Bahrain is experiencing a great serious crisis.

Sheikh Hussain Aldaihi, deputy secretary general of Al Wefaq National Islamic Society, said the continued detention of Al Wefaq Secretary General  means that Bahrain is experiencing a great serious crisis.

He pointed out that Sheikh Ali Salman is raising the demands of the majority of the people of Bahrain.

” Attacking a leader of a peaceful movement and putting them in jail, means that over half of the people are facing risks of arrest or killing,” Aldaihi added.

He emphasized that it is time to listen to  the voice of reason and to the voice of humanity. “Reaching a national consensus is the only way for all citizens to enjoy peace and security,”  he added.

“The opposition will always call for peace and will always call on the authority to abandon  its ruthless vindictive policy against its own people,” he added, ” a social contract should be reached to form common ground for all factions of Bahraini citizens.”

Aldaihi concluded that the arrest of Sheikh Ali Salman is actually a crackdown to the voice of reason. He stressed, “This is serious setback that indicates the situation in Bahrain is deteriorating on all levels and requires that the authority be courageous enough to get the country out of this crisis.”
