Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei said he approved of an agreement that could be reached. He also said that he was not in favor of a 'bad' agreement.
According to Center for Preserving and Publishing the Works of Grand Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, the Supreme Leader said,'The Americans keep saying no deal is better than a bad deal; we also agree with that.'
'No deal is better than a deal which would be in contradiction with the interests of our nation,' the Leader reiterated.
'Our negotiators are trying to strip the enemy of the sanctions weapon; if they succeed so much the better; if they fail everyone should know there are numerous ways in the country to blunt this weapon,' he noted.
The Ayatollah further referred to 'a good point' President Hassan Rouhani had made, namely 'negotiation means for the two sides to agree on common points not that a party would include all its expectations in the agreement.'
He said, 'In order to reach agreement Iran has temporarily halted development of enrichment machines, production of 20 percent uranium, and operations of Arak and Fordo plants. Therefore, the Iranian side has acted logically but the other party is after blackmailing.'
The Supreme Leader made the remarks here Sunday while receiving commanders and staff members of the Air Force.
They were meeting the Supreme Leader to commemorate the day when they joined the ranks of the Islamic Revolution in 1979 against the Pahlavi regime.
