A sign reading "Sorry No Muslims" placed outside the front doors of a restaurant located in the Australian town of Longreach has been shared widely on social media. The image attracted condemnation.
A local named Helen Day posted pictures of the sign outside the Eagle's Nest Bar and Grill on the restaurant's Facebook review page last Friday.
"I certainly won't be going into a place where my Muslim friends are not welcome!", wrote Helen Day on the review page.
The full message on the sign read "2000 years ago Jesus Christ made headlines turning water into wine...the tradition continues...We turn money into beer [Sorry No Muslims]."
Anti-Islamic sentiments have been on rise in Australia since last week's Sydney cafe siege, with Twitter phenomenon like #illridewithyou acting as a counter movement.
