KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysian police on Wednesday (Dec 17) arrested a man who was planning to join the Islamic State militant group. The New Straits Times described the detainee as a "suspected Islamic State member".
The 39-year-old Malaysian was planning to go to Syria via Brunei, and he was nabbed at Kuala Lumpur International Airport at about 5.30am, the newspaper quoted Inspector-General of Police Khalid Abu Bakar as saying.
The police have detained 46 Malaysians so far, for attempting to join the militant group and for facilitating their recruitment, reported Malaysian media.
