At least 300 Chinese nationals are fighting with the ISIS, a Chinese official told China’s Communist Party’s newspaper, expressing concern about the threat the militants pose to security in China.
Chinese official newspaper the ‘Global Times,’ quoted Chinese government source saying that, “According to information from various sources, including security officers from Iraq’s Kurdish region, Syria and Lebanon…Around 300 Chinese extremists are fighting with the IS group in Iraq and Syria.”
The Chinese government expressed concerns about the militants fighting with the ISIS group, especially the effect it might have on the people in the Xinjiang region, home to the Muslim Uighur people. China has also criticized Turkey for offering shelter to the Muslim refugees who fled China, saying that such channel creates risks.
