Two Chinese aircraft carrying humanitarian aid arrived Tuesday in Erbil, capital of Iraqi Kurdish region, Xinhua reported.
Chinese Consul-General in Erbil Tan Banglin handed over the materials worth nearly 30 million yuan ($4.85 million) to officials of Kurdish regional government at a ceremony held at the airport.
Tan said during ceremony that the Chinese government and people deeply sympathize with the Iraqi displaced people and refugees affected by the attack of the ISIS.
He said that this humanitarian assistance is part of China's support to the counter-terrorism efforts in Iraq, including the Kurdish region.
For his part, Thahir Osman, vice governor of Erbil province, expressed appreciation on behalf of the Kurdish regional government to the Chinese government and people, saying that the valuable
and timely Chinese supplies will be distributed to the refugees and displaced people in the region.
He added that the Iraqi Kurdish region has, so far, received 1.6 million Iraqi displaced people and Syrian refugees.
