Members of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria under the spiritual guardianship of His Eminence, Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky will Today (Sunday) embark on a nationwide Arba’een mass trek to commemorate the fortieth day after the brutal murder of Imam Hussain in Karbala, 61 years AH.
Tagged “Arba’een”, the event is centrally commemorated in Karbala, Iraq, where millions of people trek to the tomb of Imam Husain to remember the trial and tribulation faced by Household of the Holy Prophet, chained and dragged in scorching desert, barefoot from Karbala in Iraq to Damascus in Syria, after the brutal killing of Imam Hussain.
A statement by the Central Committee on Media and Publicity on Ashura and Arba’een said, the trek which will coincide with the event in Karbala is symbolic as a mark of honour and allegiance to Imam Hussain and his cause, as well as condemnation of the Karbala tragedy.
Signed by Ibrahim Usman, the statement further said, people are expected to set out for the mass trek from eight axis namely: Zaria, Kaduna, Pambegua, Kano, Malumfashi, Funtua, Unguwar Malam Mudi (Birnin Gwari) and Gadan Gayan, comprising neighbouring states and towns.
Kano axis are the early starters, that will take-off on Sunday and spend seven days to Zaria, while Pambegua axis are expected to take-off on Tuesday to spend four days on the road and Kaduna axis on Wednesday and expected to arrive Zaria in three days.
People from the eight axis are expected to converge at the Hussainiyyah Baqiyyatullah, Zaria on Saturday, for Sheikh Zakzaky’s address at a grand occasion.
