An international conference is planned to be held in Iran later this month to investigate Muslim scholars’ views about extremist and Takfiri groups.
Prominent Muslim scholars from 83 countries are expected to take part in the international event.
This was announced Tuesday in a press conference attended by Ayatollah Mohsen Araki, secretary general of the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought and Hojat-ol-Islam Seyed Mehdi Alizadeh, secretary of the organizing committee.
Ayatollah Araki said the conference will be an intellectual and scholarly event in which Muslim world scholars gather to discuss their views on extremism.
He hoped that the conference will succeed in raising awareness about different aspects of the threat of Takfir and extremism.
Ayatollah Araki went on to say that the vent will be held under the auspices of two grand sources of emulation Ayatollah Nasser Makarem Shirazi and Ayatollah Jafar Sobhani.
Meanwhile, Hojat-ol-Islam Alizadeh said more than 1000 abstract papers and 700 full papers have been submitted to the conference.
He said 200 Shia scholars and 100 Sunni scholars including Muftis and prominent figures will be present at the international gathering.
According to Hojat-ol-Islam Alizadeh, the holy city of Qom will host the conference on “Extremist and Takfiri Groups in View of Muslim Scholars” on November 23-24.
