The book which has 40 pages manifests the deep admiration of Ali Abdullah Yusuf, a Sunni Muslim for Imam Hussein, the legend of bravery and sacrifice in the eventful Battle of Karbala in 680 AD.
Abdullah died in London in 1952 but his book is one of the rare English language sources about Imam Hussein and the eternal epic of Karbala.
In May 25, 1931, Abdullah Yusuf held the “Ashura commemoration ceremony” in the Waldorf Hilton Hotel of London and tried to introduce Imam Hussein as the great martyr of Islam, therefore, he provided a pamphlet which was later evolved into the book, ‘Imam Husain and his Martyrdom’.
